8th November - Update from Leo

Hi Everyone.

The TRACKS November tour of Germany and Austria starts on the 11th November. We play seventeen shows in eighteen days and we’re all really looking forward to it.

On the 23rd November at The Festhalle, Dudenhofen, Germany we’ll be recording a live DVD/CD featuring the songs from Tracks’ and from our earlier records.

You’ll find all the tour dates at: www.hundredseventysplit.com/gigs.htm. Shows for 2017 will be posted later.

Our new CD ‘TRACKS’ was released on October 14th. Thanks to all who’ve already bought copies. I’m pleased to say that the CD currently hovers around the Top Five in the Amazon.de Blues Charts. We’re thrilled about that!

Many of you have asked about vinyl releases. It’s something we’d really like to do and we’ll do it as soon as possible.

Apologies if we’ve no shows anywhere near you. Our agents are working on it.

Hope to see you out there on the road.

Regards,

Leo

Update from Leo -

21st March 2016

Hello - and apologies for this late newsletter… again! I've had my head down in recording mode and now need to do some catching up.

First of all I'm so sad to hear about the recent passing of so many music business colleagues. I knew Keith Emerson, George Martin and Lemmy.

Hundred Seventy SplitSince I last wrote we've completed a long November 2015 tour. Thank you to all of you who came to see us play. It was, as always, great fun. Thank you also for the very positive and encouraging comments about the new songs we road-tested.

After a six-week break, we began recording our new CD at the end of January. We've been working on it on ever since, fitting in around everyone's busy schedule. We tracked in Damon's own facility 'Platform Studio' near Reading and then moved to 'Musicbox Studios' in Cardiff. Ed Truckell, our live sound engineer, has been behind the recording console all the way. Thank you, Ed.

As always, it's been great fun and we're all pleased with the result: there are a few bits and pieces left to do before we begin mixing. I guess 10 or 11 songs will make the final cut.

Hundred Seventy SplitThe title for the new record hasn't yet been decided, but I would like to thank those of you who have sent in your suggestions for consideration. The CD will be available within the next few months.

On the touring front we've changed agents for 2016 but, because of a hiccup in continuity, it is now too late for us to find as many summer shows as we would like. However, our new agents are in the process of confirming a November 2016 European tour and booking shows for 2017. All gig information will be posted here as it becomes available.

A couple of weeks ago we played a festival in Fuengirola, Spain. Many thanks to the promoters and the great audience. It was fun to play and we had the added bonus of enjoying some fine sunny weather. I even met a few fans from my hometown that I'd not seen since the early 60s.

I'm sorry to say that US dates are still proving elusive. It's not that we don't have offers; the problem is getting US work visas in time. Currently it takes around 160 days to process them and we just don't get enough notice to comply. Unfortunately, last year, we had to cancel shows in the USA for this very reason.

The good news is that we are playing some UK shows over the next few months and we're looking forward to seeing some of you there.

That's all for now. I will write again soon.
Regards
Leo
